I felt honored attending the finals of the Unilever IdeaTrophy Competition 2016 in Lagos on Friday, the 26th day of August, 2016. I can tell the story a hundred times however, I am sure I cannot forget such an environment charged with raw talent, brilliance and entertainment put together by happy employees going about their business with obvious enthusiasm.
The Unilever Idea Trophy Competition is an annual event where teams made up students of tertiary institutions pitch “The Big Idea” to successfully sell the Close Up brand. This year, over 2000 applications were received. This culminated in the selection of 6 teams at the finals before Team Adobe (University of Ibadan) emerged as winners of the 2016 Nigerian edition. The first runner up was Team Innovatus (Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta) and they were closely followed by Team CoolClic. Team Innovatus and Team Adobe are now Team Nigeria and will participate in the Unilever Africa Idea Trophy (UAIT) billed to take place in Johannesburg, South Africa very soon.
To add extra spice to the event, an employability clinic was organized where free vetting of CVs was done and mock interviews were conducted for participants.
